WEEK 1

My first week as a student ambassador has been very laid-back. I did my first front desk job and I made some excuse mistakes but it really wasn’t that bad. Hopefully, I get better at my desk job but hopefully, I do get to the point where I am very fluent at the welcome desk. For this week I and my professor for the mentor group have been chatting about the mentor group because we haven’t figured out how this is going to work. In her class she has 45 students and I’m not sure how I’m going to be able to handle all those students in just one mentor group. But hopefully, I will figure this out but my first week will definitely be an experience.

WEEK 2

So my second week of being a student ambassador or UC Blue Ash went pretty successful. I’ve got a lot better at doing the welcome Desk. I still made some mistakes but I am improving a lot. I just got a new partner to help me out with the Peer Mentorship. Erin volunteered to help me out. We have got most of the things situated and we are looking forward to this. I hope everything goes well for the rest of the semester.

WEEK 3

In my third week of being a student ambassador, I am still learning a lot of things. I’m still trying to figure out how this peer Mentorship works. But so far I am doing good. I have been improving at the welcome desk and I am learning more about the student ambassador job. Once I get this peer Mentorship down, it will be smooth sailing.

week 4

In my fourth week of being a student ambassador, I’ve gained a lot and I have done a lot. I have started emailing my mentees and it has been going well. I am getting better at the help desk even though there have been some angry parents, students, and adults. I hope that this keeps on getting better and on to the next week.

week 5

In my fifth week of being a Student Ambassador, things are going pretty smoothly. The welcome desk has been getting easier and easier and I finally met with my mentees. My mentees are really cool people and down to earth. I am looking forward to actually talking to them 1on1. I have finally been selected for some events. I can’t wait to do them.

week 6

So far in week six, there wasn’t really much happening ambassador-wise. Right now I am trying to get one of my grades back up and just emailing students. But one thing I did do this week was my first event. It was with Dr. Frame and the event was about first-year experiences. We talked about Campus Link, clubs, being an ambassador, and much more. That was pretty much all I did this week and I’m looking forward to next week!

week 7

My seventh week of being a Student Ambassador was very chill. I did the second event of my Ambassador career. It was Daniel and I talk about our experiences as a student ambassador and a student orientation leader. It was very cool to interact with the students participating and it was pretty cool to see some of their faces. Even though it was virtual, Daniel and I did a good job of keeping the event interesting. I hope all goes well for the rest of my career of being a student ambassador.

week 8

In my eighth week of being a student ambassador, it was pretty crazy. I was apart of the October D&I Committee meeting past Tuesday. Erin and I were pretty perplexed about what was going on at the time. Next time Erin and I will definitely be prepared for the upcoming meeting coming next month. I am doing way better at the help desk and that was it really. On to the next week.

week 9

My ninth week of being a student ambassador was pretty chill. I did one event this week and it was for the UC transition event. It was cool and pretty tame compared to the D&I meeting I had the week prior. I am trying to set up some 1on1’s with my mentees but they are not responding. So it is pretty challenging right now but I got to keep on moving though. Hopefully, next week I won’t have these problems.

week 10

In my 10th week of being a Student Ambassador, I didn’t do any events. It was a pretty chill week and nothing crazy happened. I’m getting way better at the helpdesk and my students are finally responding to me. We are currently setting up a group chat so we can talk as a group. I have got my lowest grade up one letter grade. I’m excited about that. Now it’s on to the next week.

week 11

In my 11th week of being a student ambassador, nothing really happened. I know the welcome desk by the back of my hand now. The only fascinating thing that came out this week was that I’ve got one of my lowest grades up to a grade that I am pleased about. The grade went up to letter grades in 4 weeks. I’m really excited about that. Hopefully, next week will be more interesting than this one.

week 12

In my twelfth week of being a student ambassador, I really didn’t do much. I am still learning through the diversity and inclusion committee. I’m still very shy and scared to speak up, but I feel like I will get out of that awkward stage. The welcome desk is becoming second nature and I have still haven’t gotten any weird encounters. I hope the next week is more exciting than this one.

week 13

We are nearing the end of the semester. It has been a fun time being a student ambassador for the first semester. I missed my first ever event today and it was very disappointing. I am doing better now and I hope I can finish this semester strong!

week 14

In my 14th week of being a student ambassador, it was pretty uneventful. I did not do any events at all. The welcome desk is becoming second nature and I can do it in my sleep. My progress from the 1st week to this week has been tremendous. I have one more week and I am still pushing on.

week 15

In my last week of being a student ambassador, I was bedridden for the whole week. I caught COVID-19 and I felt exhausted the whole week. I was immobile, couldn't do events, and stuck inside of my house. I hope the next semester is way much better!

week 16

This is my first week of the second semester of 2021 of being a student ambassador. Things have gone to a smooth start. I haven’t gotten to work the welcome desk yet or do any events but I am still hanging. I can’t wait for two weeks from now when I can actually get on campus and do some events.

Week 17

In the second week of the second semester of being a student ambassador, I still haven’t got to do any work on campus or do any events but I am ready for it.

week 18

In my third week of the second semester being a student ambassador, I finally got to go on campus. I did the welcome desk for the first time in a month and it felt smooth like butter. It starts to come second here to me after you do it for a while. Sometimes I do get some difficult phone calls but for the most part, it is still fun to do. I didn’t get any events this week but I did go to the retreat and it was the most fun and informative activity we have done in a while. I am looking forward to next week!

week 19

In my 19th week of being a student ambassador, I was a part of my first award committee. It took a lot of work and time but in the end, it was pretty fun and informative. I didn’t do any events this week, but I did get many hours. Hopefully in the upcoming weeks will be more exciting because I do have some events lined up.

week 20

In my 20th week of being a student ambassador, I had a pretty chill week. I only had to do one event this week and it was pretty simple. I did get some interesting calls at the welcome desk though. The welcome desk is becoming easier and easier for me and it has been going well. This week I also learned that I am going to be a mentor for some first year students so I’m pretty excited about that. I’m excited for what next week has to offer for me.

week 21

In my 21st week of being a student ambassador, it was a pretty eventful week and snowy week. I sent out my first email to my mentees. I only got two responses out of 42 but it is better than none. I did one event this week, and it was for Black History Month with Dr. Tracy. It was very snowy this week also. I got snowed in and couldn’t get out of my house. Hopefully next week there will be less snow.

week 22

In my 22nd week of being a student ambassador, I had some pretty long events to do. It was my first event that lasted over two hours. The event was very enjoyable so the length really did not bother me. The event was about social issues that happened frequently and how it played in songs. It was very informative and very interesting. The help desk has been really dead lately. There have not been many calls coming in and it is getting very boring there. I hope next week gets more exciting!

WEEK 23

In my 23rd week of being a Student Ambassador, it was a very uneventful week. I did not do any events and it was tame at the welcome desk. Hopefully, next week will bring some more excitement.

WEEK 24

In my 24th week of being a Student Ambassador,  it has been very stressful for me. I had my last midterm and my eight-page essay due on the same day. It was very time-consuming and tedious. Thankfully, I made it out the week without pulling any hairs out. I did not do any events this week and I haven’t had anything too crazy that happened to me at the welcome desk.

WEEK 25

In my 25th week of being a Student Ambassador, I was really sick for most of it. I did not do any events and I did not even work the welcome desk. I was out of it and did not feel well. Thankfully, it was not COVID-19 related but I would say that I will never eat any snacks in two in the morning ever again.

week 26

I’m a 26th week of being a student ambassador, it hasn’t been too crazy. I did two events this week and they have all been good. The welcome desk is pretty dry as usual and nothing eventful has occurred. My grades have been struggling but I am getting them fixed. Hopefully next week will be better.

week 27

In my 27th week of being a student ambassador, things went pretty smoothly. I did my first campus tour this week, I did an event, and my academics are good. The campus tours went pretty smoothly. Since it was my first time, I did have a few mistakes but I did have a good time. The event I did was pretty chill and it went pretty smooth. I am looking forward to my last few weeks of school!

week 28

In my 28th week of being a Student Ambassador, I did not do much. I gave away my Welcome Desk hours to Kayli this week because she needed it more than me. I did not participate in any events and I had no tours. The only thing I did ambassador-wise was to partake in the bi-weekly meeting. I hope next week is more eventful.

week 29

This is the second to last week of the semester. I did not do much this week other than study and prepping for exams. I have a multitude of projects awaiting in the next week so all of my attention has been on that. Next week will be terrible and I am just going to have to endure it.

week 30

This is the last week of being a student ambassador. This ambassador program has changed me for the better. It helped me become a better person and leader. It helped me grow my connections and gave me a lot of experience for years to come. I wish everyone the best of luck. Thank you, Chris, Sarah, Stella, and Daniel!
